When you think of French interiors, words like elegance and refinement come to mind. From Rococo to Art Deco, France has set global style standards, deeply impacting the way we approach interiors in everything from color palettes to materials.

However, our love for French goes deeper, rooted in a profound appreciation for craftsmanship. This spirit is embodied in the work of L’Atelier Paris Haute Design, an American-based company that creates beautiful, custom French kitchens. Their specialty is in the range itself, which can be fully customized—color, size, functions, and more—resulting in truly one-of-a-kind ranges that can’t be found anywhere else (The only real limitations are the physical properties of materials and current availability of raw resources.)

For those looking to outfit an entire space, L’Atelier Paris also designs hoods, cooking islands, and full kitchen layouts. And if you’re in a hurry, their prêt-à-porter selection is available, along with a rush program.

What is most unique, however, is founder Ricardo Moraes’ decision to move the company from France to the U.S., bringing culinary excellence and heritage stateside. Not only does this make it easier for American shoppers to bring the French kitchen home, but the company has managed to avoid the chaos—and costs—of the ever-changing tariffs. We recently spoke with Ricardo about the business, even gaining insight into their beautiful vineyard in the French countryside.

Tell us about L’Atelier Paris Haute Design. How did the company begin, and how has it evolved to the brand we know today?
The company started because of need. We were custom home developers and wanted to find a company that would make a French cooking range that would be a made-to-order, fully custom one just like something you would have created for a restaurant. We quickly realized that did not exist! That led us to the decision to make that happen ourselves by creating L’Atelier Paris.

Why did you decide to move your business to the U.S.?
The decision to move all manufacturing to the US started during COVID as we were having a very difficult time with work being done in Europe. The pandemic was causing issues with components, shipping, etc., so we made the decision to move it all to the USA, which is our focus market anyway. It was such a great decision because now we have much better lead times, all parts are in stock, there’s no shipping issues, and we are now the only French range manufacturer making luxury appliances in the USA.

The tariffs seem to be changing by the hour. How has L’Atelier Paris protected itself from tariffs, and a constantly changing market?
Because we manufacture our products in the USA, we’ve avoided the concerns and issues that can come with constant changes in the tariffs, shipping delays, and all that is associated with imported products. We’re able to focus purely on making the very best custom luxury kitchen ranges and expanding our showrooms to give interior designers and clients the ultimate experience and service.

What differentiates L’Atelier Paris from other luxury ranges?
EVERYTHING! The most significant difference is that we make a fully custom product from scratch – no limits, templates to choose from, sizes to conform to – it is truly custom down to a fraction of an inch. Any configuration, color, size; we build each range one at a time. These are specifically made for the US market, which means larger ovens than European made ones, plus they are very easy to use.

Even though you’re based in the U.S., you still have roots in France. What can you tell us about your beautiful vineyard?
The vineyard is our family’s pride and joy! That is where all the inspiration for the design comes from. All the R&D is done alongside chefs that we are friends with and enjoy cooking together. The vineyard also produces award winning wines that are highly rated and that excellence is what constantly pushes us to do better. The wine estate is available to L’Atelier Paris customers to visit and enjoy some really wonderful experiences there.
