For nearly four decades, Montclair, New Jersey, has been home to Bobbi Brown, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. “I’ve lived in Montclair since the day my husband Steven and I returned from our honeymoon nearly 38 years ago, and I still love everything about this town,” Bobbi says. “The proximity to New York City (it’s only 12 miles away), the cultural institutions, the cool restaurants and shopping, and most of all, the people. This town is a diverse community of engaged and interesting people—celebrities, journalists, CEOs, artists, and entrepreneurs.”
Bobbi is the founder of Jones Road Beauty and co-owner of The George, the boutique hotel she and husband Steven Plofker created in the heart of town. “When you enter The George, we want our guests to feel like they’re coming home,” Bobbi says. “We want them to be enveloped in a space that’s welcoming, warm, and filled with special touches both in their rooms and in the common spaces.”
Now, guests have an additional way to experience The George beyond checking into one of its thoughtfully designed guest rooms and suites: The property recently introduced a modern two-bedroom apartment adjacent to the hotel, complete with a private backyard, full kitchen, and laundry room—ideal for extended stays or families traveling together. Bobbi tapped designer Caroline Hague to bring the new space to life.
Working within the building’s classic architecture, Caroline layered contemporary furnishings with rich textures and natural materials, sourcing pieces from Four Hands, Regina Andrew, and Armadillo to create a look that feels both elevated and inviting. “The George is a welcoming and comforting space that maintains a high-end boutique feeling,” Caroline notes. “I aimed to evoke that same experience for guests staying in the suite, whether they are visiting for a long weekend with friends or staying for a month-long work trip.”
