One of the best things about living in Northern California’s Wine Country, besides the wine of course, is having friends and family come visit. Not only does it allow me to revisit some of my favorite spots – Far NienteGloria Ferrer, and The Prisoner to name a few – it’s also a great opportunity for me to check off the places on my must-visit list or discover something totally brand new. And while 2020 didn’t offer much opportunity for travel and visiting, many in the hospitality industry took that time to renovate, redecorate, innovate or take the leap of faith to open their doors for the first time. Which means it’s the perfect time to find out what’s new in Wine Country and plan a visit soon.

To make planning easier, especially if you’re only able to visit for a weekend, I’ve highlighted places alphabetically by city instead of category, because between Napa and Sonoma Counties, there’s a lot of physical ground to cover and no shortage of new hotels, tasting rooms and restaurants to enjoy. So much so, this list is by no means complete. Take it as a jumping off point of where to start and don’t be afraid to discover your own hidden gem along the way.
