“We have always loved East Hampton for its neighborhood charm and proximity to the beautiful beaches,” the owners of this Long Island home say. “We have two boys and we wanted them to experience a suburban type life and be able to get on their bikes or walk to friends’ houses and the beach.” The pair, busy working parents, knew finding something turnkey was crucial.
They found this property and immediately fell in love with the modern farmhouse aesthetic. It’s got an open layout, a great outdoor dining set up, and a few different lounge areas for entertaining. They knew they could make it cozy, chic, and warm, so finding someone that understood their aesthetic and could also push the couple creatively was important. They knew interior designer Tamara Magel was the perfect fit.
For furnishings, they opted for a beachy, eclectic, and sophisticated style. Playing into the natural surroundings was key, so as a jumping off point, Magel relied on textured fabrics and rugs. In the living room, a live edge table adds interest while photos from their friend Scott Rudin bring a dose of drama.
The end result is a comfortable, organic space that exudes elegance and ease. The bedrooms are calming, while the common areas encourage conversation and connection. Take a closer look in the slideshow.
