The Longridge Estates neighborhood in Sherman Oaks, California is considered to be a celebrity enclave with its private location, amenities, and close proximity to Ventura Boulevard. “Sherman Oaks is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Los Angeles due to its lower canyon location and stunning architecture,” designer Rob Diaz says. Naturally, it’s where he wanted to design his latest project–a luxurious double A-frame with California comfort and European influences. “I wanted the design of the home to speak to the timeless beauty of the area, while still maintaining a contemporary feel for today’s living.”
The style of the 4-bedroom, 5-bathroom home is warm, modern, and refined. “Prior to our renovation, the home was dark and dated with small, cramped rooms and lacked imagination and functionality,” Rob recalls. “We did a complete gut renovation of the home from the ground up and added over 1,000 square feet of living space. The backyard was previously unusable and unsuitable for entertaining, and we transformed it into the ultimate zen-like paradise. It’s the perfect place to relax with friends and family, soaking up the California sunshine in your own secluded oasis.”
The two-year project prioritized that zen-like atmosphere the home. There’s no clutter or overcomplicated patterns that detract from the natural beauty of the home, and Rob incorporated clean lines, natural textures, classic lighting, and luxurious materials to create a sense of modern charm and tranquility. “I strive to give all of my projects a classic yet modern look that will stand the test of time in 10, 20, or even 50 years from now,” he explains. “Every part of the home was designed with intentionality and functionality. From the home’s rock exterior to the smooth and fluted clay walls, the design evokes an understated elegance that will last for generations to come.”
