The best thing about this Brentwood, Los Angeles home is the location. “I love that the house is walking distance from my client’s parents and her sister,” says designer Kellie Eserts. “They’re a big, tight-knit family and it was important to them to be near each other. They bought the house years earlier with the intention of remodeling it.”

The family of four lived in the house for several years before reaching out to Kelli’s eponymous design firm for the renovation. “They gravitate toward soft, serene colors and a quieter palette in general,” she shares. “They get together with their extended family weekly for dinner and frequently have twelve people in their house eating and hanging out.” They wanted their home to be refined yet relaxed, and it had to be kid friendly. “But they didn’t want to forgo having nice things and wow moments,” the designer continues.  “For that reason, we made sure that the fabrics were all washable and our ‘wow moments’ were in things like lighting, stone and tile.”

Kellie was on board from the start, working with the architect on space planning and selecting all materials, appliances, lighting, furniture, and accessories. “The client’s dad was actually the builder, which was also fun!” she recalls. “It took approximately two years from demo to move in.They love their house! It feels like them and that is always the goal!”
