When it comes to comfortable, high-quality loungewear, Eberjey is the leader of the pack. Founded by two friends, Ali Mejia and Mariela Rovito, the brand is known for softer-than-soft pajamas, everyday lingerie, and sophisticated loungewear.

Today, we’re touring the Florida home of Ali, who now serves as the company’s Chief Creative Officer. The mother of two was born in El Salvador and raised in Miami, and her home feels like a slice of paradise. Working with interior designer James Duncan, Ali was able to create a sanctuary for her family and a space that truly embodies the essence of Eberjey. In a recent interview, she shared memories of the renovation and what a perfect Saturday at home looks like to her:

Tell us a little about your home! What do you love most about the location?
My home is located on Key Biscayne, Florida, a small island town off the coast of Miami. “The Key” has its own unique vibe – different from anywhere else in Miami – where you get a small-town feel with the city right across the causeway. Its lush tropical landscape, sunny beaches, and natural parks truly makes you feel like you are on perma-vacation.

With access to gourmet neighborhood markets, safety for kids to play freely, and the beach within walking distance, it has a much more laid-back culture that embraces a sense of community and offers endless outdoor activities. It’s the type of place where friends and neighbors are always welcome to pop by for impromptu tea or drinks.

What did the space look like when you first moved in, and what were the first things you wanted to change? Did you have to do any renovations?
When I first toured the run-down property, I couldn’t imagine it transforming into the beach shack of my dreams. My incredibly talented interior designer, James Duncan, helped me see beyond its dreary surface and realize the space’s potential. It had good bones – it just needed a complete gut renovation. The first thing we did was expose the ceiling, and once that was done, we discovered these cool patterned beams, and that’s really where our vision took off.

Tell us a bit about a couple of your favorite rooms in the home. What do you love most about the design or decor?
I consciously downsized, so the house is an ideal, manageable size. All the rooms have beautiful light, bright warmth, and gorgeous high-gloss wood detailing. What I love most is the home’s relaxing atmosphere that invites me and my family to slow down and spend quality time together away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The open kitchen design is perfect for prepping meals and hanging out together as a family, while the master bedroom has a boutique hotel feel making it a comfortable oasis. We also love spending lazy days and breezy nights on the outdoor terrace where we can unwind and take full advantage of Miami living. My daughters’ favorite room is the multi-purpose TV room that we outfitted with three twin beds instead of sofas making it extra cozy for sleepovers and movie nights.

What Eberjey elements are reflected in your space?
The notion of living a rested and relaxed “vacation life” is central to the brand ethos of Eberjey. Our products are designed to take you out of go-mode and into a more relaxed state-of-mind, so you can take pleasure in life’s simple moments. With an emphasis on connection, staying grounded, and living a well-rested lifestyle, Eberjey’s ethos influences much of my spaces, from my home to our retail stores. I gravitate towards neutral colors, soothing beach elements, and lots of natural light to bring in calmness and promote a sense of ease.

What is a perfect Saturday at home for you?
Sleeping in, sipping my morning tea in the backyard hammock, and making breakfast for my family. After breakfast, I enjoy heading out for a long walk around Key Biscayne to feel the sunshine and fresh air. We usually host my daughters’ friends on Saturday nights, so the house is always filled with lots of laughter and music. I love the energy they bring to the home. Sunset drinks at the yacht club down the street with my husband and friends is the perfect ending to the perfect Saturday.
