In the heart of Indian Wells, CA, you’ll find a jewel-toned oasis where mid-century modern and Moroccan influence collide, a look only designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard could pull off. Originally a 1950s-era property, the Sands Hotel & Spa has been totally transformed and is officially the most photogenic spot in the California desert.
Part of PRG Hospitality Group, the Sands Hotel & Spa is the first designer boutique hotel in the prominent and exclusive community of Indian Wells. Every inch of the property was reimagined, with new building additions as well as substantial interior and exterior renovations. Design-wise, Bullard used a rich color palette of emerald greens, deep blues, and dusty rose, along with black, white, and glass details throughout. Each corner is more picturesque than the last, encouraging guests to stay on-site and enjoy the decadent environment.
The 46 guest rooms, including two suites and one bi-level Presidential Suite, are beautiful and it’s here the Moroccan influence shines brightest. Each room is quite different, with unique color palettes and bespoke furnishings, ensuring guests get a one-of-a-kind experience during their stay. Outside, the pool beckons guests to relax while indoors, the spa offers massages, facials, and body treatments.
The hotel has recently opened The Pink Cabana, with executive chef Jason Niederkorn at the helm. The interiors here channel the iconic tennis and racquet clubs that filled Palm Springs during the 50’s and 60’s. The menu features Mediterranean cuisine with a Moroccan influence, and the cocktail list rotates with the season. It’s the perfect spot to post up after a day in the sun with friends.
Next time you head to the desert, skip the crowded Palm Springs tourist scene for some relaxation here. Just be sure to save us a spot at the pool!
