“I have known the client since our college days,” designer Bailey Austin says, “and was honored that she and her husband asked me to design their home in Denver.” The couple has four children, two girls and two boys, and their new home is conveniently located across the street from the children’s school. “This is the ultimate hosting house! The perfect spot for after school playdates and inner parties alike,” the designer explains.

Once they got through the time-consuming permitting process, the designer got to work. “We laid out the first floor as the ‘entertaining mecca,’” she says. “The living room is central to the home and is a warm, open and light filled space that opens onto the outdoor living space. The primary bedroom resides on the first floor with beautiful views of the landscaped backyard, creating a serene escape for the couple.”

Moving to the second floor, which was designed with the children in mind, color plays a big role. “Each child has their own room with Jack-and-Jill bathrooms,” Bailey explains. “The bedrooms have darling window seats and custom built-ins with wall sconces and additional storage. We designed a sloped roofline to create an interesting ceiling in each of the bedrooms, adding character. The hallway upstairs is spacious and includes built-in desk nooks with art supplies.”

The basement offers an abundance of functional spaces for the entire family—there’s an office for the husband, an exercise room, a playroom that features a game table with built-ins spanning a 17’ foot wall, and a guest suite. Each of these areas is outfitted in plenty of storage. Bailey explains, “Organization was very important to this mother of 4!”

The design process began in 2017 and the family officially moved in during the spring of 2021. The result is a clean, art-driven space—and one that the family absolutely loves. Take a tour in the slideshow.
