Tucked away in the hills of Northern California, this Marin County residence is on a picturesque, idyllic, and family friendly street. “We love the charm and character of all the houses in this neighborhood,” says designer Caitlin Jones Ghajar. Her clients—a young family—wanted a home that was comfortable, with both handcrafted and vintage materials, and a space that celebrates their love of outdoors and adventure.

Caitlin and her eponymous design firm [Caitlin Jones Design] had their work cut out for them. “We designed the home from top to bottom including design schematics, space planning, project management, furniture and decor sourcing and procurement, lighting and plumbing specifications, furniture, art, and decor,” the designer explains. “And the finishes and furniture needed to be durable and family friendly.”

Slowly but surely, the house was reimagined for the clients and their needs. Some of their early inspiration for the project came from a sourcing trip to Round Top—the famed flea market destination in Texas. They opted for finishes that brought depth to the space and built layers of texture with natural colors and elements.

Construction lasted just over a year. “Our clients were thrilled with the final result and continue to love it to this day,” Caitlin says with a smile. “They were so full of joy and excitement to share the home with their kids, and finally enjoy their house as a home.”
