A note from Kelli Lamb, Editorial Director:

It’s been many years since I’ve lived in a place that has a traditional winter, with storms and snow and reasons to stay indoors, but this time of year is still one of my favorites. It’s our chance to truly nest—connect with our loved ones, finally make a dent in that “to read” pile of books on our nightstands, and enjoy the beautiful homes we’ve created.

For me, there’s nothing better than a cozy Saturday morning at home. Brew another cup of coffee, play your favorite album, and find a deep sense of comfort. That was the theme I hoped to convey in this issue—comfort.

From the NFL’s Ronnie Stanley, who sought a sense of relaxation in the hills of Malibu (page 50), to Dallas designer Dafna Kikuchi, who patiently waited for the just-right house (page 114), we’re all looking for a place to feel like our most authentic selves. I hope that you’re able to find what that might look like to you in our pages—whether it’s a minimal, art-forward space or one that celebrates your favorite hobbies.

I’m also thrilled to share a tour of the Rue House at Serenbe (page 104), our second showhouse and a wonderful representation of this magazine’s most authentic self. It’s a beautiful, handcrafted home that is filled with possibility. Visiting the (sold-out) opening party was a truly surreal moment for our team, where we were able to celebrate with builder Vincent Longo, designers Patrick and Meghan Sharp, and all of our fabulous brand partners.

As we enter a new year, I hope that you’ll gift yourself the comfort you crave—whether that’s enjoying this issue on a slow Saturday morning or totally repainting your bedroom. As the homes we’ve featured show, the design that suits you best is not one size fits all.
