This June, Australian rug brand Art Hide celebrated ten years in business! For the last decade, they’ve transformed the humble cowhide pelt (ethically sourced as a natural by- product of the beef industry) into extraordinary, fashion-forward designs. Using signature color development, laser burning, and metallic stenciling techniques, while ultimately respecting the natural aesthetic integrations of the textile, the hides are transformed into designer pieces that are also durable, tactile and hypo-allergenic.
The brand was started by sisters Kura Perkins and Bree Hay-Hendry, and the pair remains the driving creative force. They’ve found success in their ability to adapt quickly to the changing market — from offering custom sizing to utilizing their free render resource called Room Service, which enables clients to view the rugs in their space. They also have grown the brand to include Ground Control — a collection of textured jutes and wools in raw tones, mixed with earthy and marbled hues.
Both brands just released their tenth anniversary collection, inspired by the iconic architecture, vintage style and desert landscape of Palm Springs. Though we could wax poetic about the beautiful rugs all day long, who better to tell you about them than Bree + Kura?? Take a peek at both collections in the video below, and then see a few of our favorites in the slideshow.
