Just outside of Toronto is North York—a highly sought-after suburb and the location of this warm, minimal new construction home. The homeowners, a young fashion-forward couple, called on Morris and James Interiors to complete the design in the foyer, staircase, powder room, kitchen, living room, dining room, and primary suite.

The couple’s home had a few traditional elements that needed to be modernized, but the design firm was largely gifted with a blank slate to bring the desired aesthetic to the forefront. It boasted a (fairly) open concept layout, white oak flooring, white cabinetry in the kitchen, large windows with warm white walls, and a traditional wood spindle staircase case completed through the builder. Morris and James Interiors set out to streamline a mix of marble, wood, plaster, and vintage brass fixtures while layering linen textures throughout each space.

The project unfolded over the course of a year, with most of the design concepts presented virtually due to the pandemic. Each room features thoughtful touches that show a beautiful client-designer working relationship. See more in the slideshow.
