“The piano room is located at the front of the home,” says interior designer Brittaney Elgner of Olly & Em. “Timeless architectural details meld the present and the past. We designed the space around our client’s childhood piano. Furnishings were carefully considered to allow for ample seating. The space didn’t allow for millwork, so we incorporated this charming etagere by Thomas Obrien to house our client’s books and keepsakes.”

“The kitchen is the heart of this family’s home. Functionally was just as important as the design itself. Beauty and function needed to go hand and hand. Our clients cook and entertain often so materials were selected with daily use in mind.  The adjacent pantry houses food storage, larger counter appliances and crockery. We emphasized a mix of various wood tones and metal finishes giving life to the ivory walls and millwork.”

“I love a space that has a place for everything, and everything in its place. The kitchen needed to feel lived in and authentic to how our clients live. Every selection was considered individually but also as a whole to make sure we created continuity within the home.”

“The window-wrapped breakfast nook allows for the perfect light to shine through creamy linen sheers. A highly destressed pine finish was selected for the dining table, performance fabric were sourced for the seat and back cushions, keeping unavoidable spills, and daily wear and tear at bay. The kitchen millwork extents into the space allowing for ample storage and close proximity for daily use of linens, flatware, and dining ware. A welcomed spot for our clients and their family to start and end the day.”

“The great room incorporated a mix of old and new. The two antique cabinets create a graceful juxtaposition to the warm ivory walls, drawing your eye up to the stained wood beams. The space has a way of enveloping you with this feeling of warmth and comfort. Our client loves fall tones, an earthly combination of these tones resulted in harmony and balance throughout the space. We emphasized natural materials, wood elements and tactile surfaces. The furnishings needed to comfortable and stand the test of time, so we selected wools and performance fabrics that would hold up over time. A fresh approach on family friendly living.”

“The dining room is a space where we embraced deep rich tones. We selected a velvety olive for the upholstery on the Louis dining chairs, an oil painting from Loft Antiques in Atlanta for the buffet and antique plates from our client’s mother and grandmother adorn the walls. We love how the Julie Neil fixture adds a whimsical element to the inviting space.”

“The stair hall was designed around the art deco inspired railing and pickets. A suzani ottoman and walnut centre table by Hickory Chair were selected to anchor the space.  Imperfect objects adorn the centre table, the mix feels authentic and full of life.”

“The primary bedroom feels elegant and comforting. We wanted to create a soothing and cocooning environment for our clients to recharge and retreat. A variety of neutral tones were selected to accompany the vaulted tongue and groove ceiling and ornamental Oly silk fixture. The jewel in the space is certainly the burgundy loveseat at the foot of the bed.”

“Our client has a considerable book collection. When I say considerable it’s so large that we designed a room around off the primary suite around her collection. She is often found relaxing or working in her nook. The texture and tone from her client’s books and objects bring contrast and life to the niveous walls. Every corner in the space feels special and welcoming.”

“The primary ensuite was another area where function and beauty needed to go hand in hand. We wanted the ensuite to feel refined and welcoming but also incredibly functional.  We designed the large vanity with storage in mind. Incorporating the reeded white oak apron and introducing reeded glass to the upper towers soften the proportions on the large millwork piece. Layering a second life rug and antique pottery brought a real sense of comfort to the ensuite.”

“When it came to the powder we wanted to create a mood. Studio Green by Farrow & Ball was used on all surfaces in the space. The Cristallo custom sink adds warmth to the deep earthy walls. We wanted the space to be bold, yet warm and polished.”
