Luke Fraschieri is the creative force behind LHF Interiors, a full-service interior design firm in the Bay Area. With a keen understanding of his clients’ dreams for their Lafayette, CA home, he was the perfect fit for the renovation.

“This is a family of four who love to entertain,” he explains. “The homeowner had always dreamed of a space that felt like a swanky hotel lobby. Elevated and moody, but still warm and livable.”

LHF Interiors first met with the client in 2019, with a vision for a comprehensive, whole-home design to be executed in phases. “We knew early on that the full renovation wouldn’t happen all at once due to budget, so we developed a phased plan to move forward thoughtfully,” he recalls. “We collaborated with Brian Kozera of A Finished Home, and together we mapped out a three-phase approach.”

The client envisioned a New England-inspired home, and Luke aimed to bring that vision to life in a way that felt authentic to both the architecture and the landscape. “From the outset, it was all about layering in thoughtful millwork, cozy built-ins, and subtle nods to traditional East Coast style,” he explains, “while still making it feel warm and livable for a California lifestyle.”

They began with the exterior, updating the shingle siding, roof, windows, and doors to give the home a fresh foundation. Copper downspouts added another layer of materials, while new windows helped to achieve the Cape Cod style the clients had envisioned. “We placed them in locations that would align with the future great room layout, which helped avoid redoing any work in the next phases,” Luke explains.

“After that, we shifted our focus to the first floor,” he says. “The kitchen, dining, and family rooms all felt disconnected, so we worked with a structural engineer to open everything up into one spacious great room that now serves as the heart of the home.”

Once the layout was finalized, they selected all the finishes and fixtures, paying close attention to the cabinetry and millwork. “We layered in a lot of detail there, which really helped bring the vision to life,” he shares. “It gave the space that intimate, enveloping feel they were after.”

The project took about eight months to complete from start to finish. “The clients were blown away by the results,” Luke says with a smile. “They felt like the new great room completely transformed the way they live, giving them a much more functional space for their daily routines.”

He continues, “They’ve told us many times that the living room feels like a total escape and a place where they can truly recharge. They constantly share how surreal it feels to call this their home, and that it’s more beautiful than they ever imagined.”
