LETTER FROM THE EDITOR:

Summer is the season of vacation—but this year, we’re bringing the vacation home through the power of interior design.

Our cover story isn’t set in some far-flung locale and, candidly, the interior architecture left little to the imagination. But to counteract that blank canvas, designer Liane Baumann infused the home with the spirit of the British West Indies through a transportive mix of pattern and color. Add in a selection of unique vintage finds, and you’d never know you weren’t at a gorgeous Bahamian estate.

As you page through the homes in this issue, you’ll discover that global influence can take many forms. In the West Village duplex designed by Manon Roux for a creative couple, her experience growing up between New York City and Paris shaped a home that feels deeply layered. Meanwhile, in Chicago, Lauren Svenstrup transformed a builder-basic high-rise into something worthy of a boutique hotel with the help of a few daring material choices.

Of course, it wouldn’t be our annual summer issue without a few true vacation homes. This time, we visit two distinct properties in Florida. Though only miles apart, each evokes a completely different mood—one reminiscent of sunny Santorini, the other imbued with the relaxed, rustic charm of Malibu. Most importantly, both are filled with ideas worth bringing home, no matter where you live.

And finally, don’t miss our favorite products of the season. I’m sharing a few of my latest discoveries—including a very cool new tile collection and some great outdoor furniture—while several designers reveal their go-to pieces for hosting, nesting, exploring, and everything in between.

Enjoy!
