Now that summer is here, we’re all about gearing up for evening soirees and dining al fresco. Summer brings just enough color on its own so the dining table can be simple and clean with just a touch of greenery here and color there- which is just what these easy no-sew Pom Pom Placemats bring. Of course, those who are super crafty at heart can whip these up with a sewing machine in no time, but those of us that are slightly more basic DIY’ers can jump on board, no sewing machine needed!

You’ll only need a few simple supplies to create these statement placemats, created by Sugar & Cloth and photographed by Kimberly Chau. They are made even more budget friendly by using a simple table runner from Ikea and cut it down to size. Give your table setting an even more unique look by draping the finished mats over the edge of the table instead of the traditional horizontal direction! Once your project has made its grand debut at your get together, be sure to hand wash or spot treat them if necessary to keep them in good shape.

Materials
Placemats (or cut a table runner to size)
Hot glue or fabric glue
Pom pom trim in the colors of your choice
Scissors

Step 1
Arrange the colors in the order you’d like for them to be to make sure it fits your vision before adhering them. Next, begin by gluing one strip of trim along the edge of your placemat with either hot glue or fabric glue, adhering just a few inches at a time and them pressing firmly in place.

Step 2
To make the next row, repeat the process and overlay the second trip of trim just over the first to make sure the poms are tightly placed together.

Step 3
Repeat for all of the rows you’d like to include, and then do the same for the opposite side of the placemat.
