Welcome to our showhouse, where we partnered with the industry’s finest to bring style and substance to a modern home in one of our favorite neighborhoods in the country.
In Georgia’s Chattahoochee Hills, just outside of Atlanta, lies the idyllic community of Serenbe. “We love all that Serenbe is,” says interior designer Patrick Sharp. “A global example of sustainable development. A design-forward, art-laden, food-centric neighborhood. We walk our dog to our design studio every morning and open the doors to our retail shop. We feel very fortunate to have found Serenbe and to have built our design business here, helping residents to live intentionally, and to nest and flourish.”
Rue is no stranger to Serenbe, as we built our first showhouse here in 2022. The design-conscious community was the obvious choice to highlight our favorite brands, from furniture and lighting to tile and appliances. And Patrick, along with his wife Meghan—aka Mister and Mrs. Sharp—were the obvious designers to bring that vision to life.
What makes this property particularly unique is there was no real “client”—no wish lists or must-haves, but a chance for both designer and builder to create a dream home, carte blanche, for an audience of Rue readers and Serenbe residents alike. The structure itself was built by Vincent Longo of Longo Custom Builders—an innovative, detail-oriented luxury home builder with 25 years of experience and a well-earned reputation in Serenbe. “We loved working with Vince and his team,” Patrick says. “They were game for any and all ideas we had. Want to cover multiple walls with milled white oak? No problem! Want to tile every wall and floor of every bathroom? Let’s do it! They were wonderful partners, and we look forward to creating more beautiful spaces together.”
Patrick and Meghan envisioned the home as a warm, sophisticated place for a modern family to live and play. It’s designed to foster connections—with people and nature. “We set out to create beautiful spaces to gather with friends and cozy spaces to rest,” Patrick tells us. “Serenbe is a vibrant community with active neighbors who enjoy a full social calendar. This house allows for adults and children alike to enjoy indoor and outdoor activities in beauty.”
The style of the house is clean and serene, with the just-right creature comforts layered in. “Architecturally, it has very clean, straight lines,” Patrick explains. “We love a glass box in the woods more than anyone, but we felt challenged to make it welcoming, homey, relaxed, and effortlessly appealing. We feel like we achieved it through texture, pattern, and plush fabric.”
In addition to furnishing the space, they brought in stand-out artists. “Patrick Brian Johnson’s art graces multiple walls and enough cannot be said about his deeply personal work bringing soul to the home,” Patrick explains. “With roots in abstract expressionism, his pieces can be described as ‘situational storytelling’ of his experiences. We were also honored to have Elizabeth Stockton hang a few of her pieces. Abstract and pastoral pieces alike, her vision adds so much depth to the home.”
The showhouse has been celebrated, both by Georgia’s design community and Serenbe residents and real estate aficionados. “The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive,” Patrick reflects. “We knew we liked it, but didn’t know that it would be so universally beloved.”
