Textile designer Caitlin Wilson’s “updated classic” kitchen looks like a stack of cookies or a cherry pie should always be found cooling on the marble countertop. The kitchen was House Beautiful’s Kitchen of the Month in January, which features an in-depth interview with Caitlin about her design process, but she’s sharing something even better with Rue- her top kitchen styling tips. Now you can take inspiration from this Room We Love to create your own dream kitchen.
Add in extras. If you have a place that you can display dishes like a hutch or shelving- do something unique by adding layers and small accessories you might not always find in a kitchen.
Get big impact from simple upgrades. Give a simple kitchen space a fresh new look with updated hardware- it makes all the difference in the world!
Less is more. Petite vases for individual flowers allow you to add color (and change color accents easily) without taking up too much counterspace.
Layer in patterns. A little fabric can go a long way. A valence or roman shade is the easiest way to make a statement with pattern in a simple space.
Surprise storage. If your pantry is always open, spice it up by wallpapering it. You’ll be amazed how motivated you’ll be to keep it organized and looking beautiful!

What color are the cabinets? Just beautiful.
The cabinets are Benjamin Moore Silhouette and the white is Benjamin Moore White Dove. Aren’t they lovely?
