For Marcella DiLonardo, the creative behind Hey Modest Marce, she wanted her home to be filled with soft grey tones and bright whites. She felt certain she’d continue this palette into the bedroom, but one product changed her mind. “I saw Rough Linen’s dusk bedding & that went out the window,” she laughs. “It is beautiful. I thought it complemented the dreamy wallpaper perfectly. I am so happy I decided to take a chance add in a very subtle color to the room.” Today, we’re reveling in the details of this beautiful bedroom makeover, while Marcella tells us more:
This space is beautiful, and that linen bedding steals the show! Exactly what Rough Linen products are included?
Featured here is the Rough Linen queen bed makeover set. It includes the duvet cover, pillow shams, top sheet & pillow slips. You even get the choice of a bedskirt or summer cover! I chose the summer cover because I have a feeling our old house is going to get hot in the summer. I love everything about this bedroom set. The button closure (which you get to pick), the high quality fabric Trish has sourced & the simple old world look of it all. I have a little bit of Rough Linen everywhere, I can’t get enough!
The wallpaper accent wall is really unique. Where did you find the paper?
The wallpaper is Farrow & Ball’s Aranami print in grey. It has such a dreamy look to it which is perfect for a bedroom. I chose Farrow & Ball’s paints in the same color palette to complement the wallpaper as well. The room is painted in Cornforth White, the trim is Wevet & the doors are Mole’s Breath. The doors were always grey, but they had a green hue to them so we decided to stick with the grey doors but strip & paint them to look brand new! I have a thing for old doors. Lastly, the framing on the wallpaper wall was there as well. I was a little worried how this would look, breaking up the wallpaper into sections but I think it turned out better then having one solid wall! We have actually decided to wallpaper the closet as well with the left over print.
Another bold element is that striking light fixture.
Because the bedrooms are all a fairly similar shape & size in our house, I wanted the master bedroom to stand out with a bold fixture. I love the bold, black look of this Rejuvenation x Cedar & Moss Semi Flush Chandelier. It is such a statement piece. I am a huge fan of all their light fixtures. One of my favorite stores!
Finally, the entire bedroom is just so serene. Any tips for making the bedroom a relaxing retreat?
Keep it simple & clean. No one wants to walk into a cluttered, messy bedroom as this is supposed to be our place to relax. Choose a soft color palette & high quality bedding. We spend 1/3 of our day sleeping so we mine as well be cozied up in the best sheets.
Truer words have never been spoken. Thanks for the tour, Marcella!
