PRG Hospitality Group, the team behind some of our favorite California hotels like Casa Laguna, Holiday House Palm Springs, and the Sands Hotel & Spa, announced the anticipated reopening of the San Luis Creek Lodge.

Geographically, it’s an ideal weekend getaway for Californians. Located in San Luis Obispo, it’s an easy drive whether you’re coming from down from the Bay Area or up from Los Angeles. The town itself is really charming, with easy access to the ocean, wine tasting, and hiking — all with a laid-back Central Coast vibe, of course. “We have had a longstanding affinity for the SLO region, its culture and fantastic quality of life,” David Dittmer, co-founder and managing partner of PRG Hospitality Group, said in a recent press release. “The area continues to attract a sophisticated, smart, cultivated traveler for both business and pleasure and we felt there was a real gap in the market for a hotel that feels inspired, design-forward and still authentic to the relaxed Central Coast experience at the same time.”

For the design, they called on celebrated designer Nina Freudenberger to reimagine both the interior and exterior spaces. The result is a relaxed, stylish surf lodge with a nod to modern farmhouse design. Freudenberger used natural materials, strong architectural lines, and a neutral color palette pulled from the colors of the coast. In the lobby, warm woods sit alongside striking black accessories and vintage discoveries, while guest rooms call on a mix of calming blues and earthy greens in the form of wallpaper, custom desks, and art prints from LA-favorite Block Shop Textiles. The bathrooms are decked out with Aesop amenities while the minibar is stocked with snacks from Erewhon.

Whether you head out to safely explore the area (don’t forget your mask!) or decide to curl up by the fireplace all weekend, the San Luis Creek Lodge is the weekend getaway you’ve been waiting for.
