The first room in a house always sets the tone for the whole home, so when Jennifer Wagner Schmidt of JWS Interiors took on this living room remodel she knew the space needed to be a beautiful greeting to those walking yet, a space for entertaining family friends, and yet still be comfortable for everyday use for the family of five (plus their adorable pup!) That’s no small order but luckily both Jennifer and her client were excited to take on a full remodel.
Jennifer started by repainting the yellow walls with a serene gray with white trim. She says, “The space was so grand with tall ceilings and windows so I wanted to play off of that with gorgeous white drapes to keep the design sophisticated. It reminded me of beautiful homes in the Hamptons with the expanse of windows.” Jennifer also added architectural detailing to the stairwell to make the most of the double height space. She tied it all together with white fabric sofas and a set of wingback chairs in the palest gray.
