Another week in quarantine, another long list of favorite finds and unique discoveries. Here’s what caught our eye this week:
— Tapestry art meets the floor in this new collaboration! Samantha Gallacher of Art + Loom and Lauren Williams Art & Home have launched a capsule collection. Together, they’ve created the feeling of movement through shades of color in an array of fibers and multiple pile heights. The completely new style of rug will add artistic interest to any room.
— Chicago-based artist Kristi Kohut debuted the Sunshine Initiative, a charitable collection. Each print purchase provides fresh produce boxes to front line hospital and healthcare workers right as they are leaving their shifts through a partnership with the Produce Alliance. Talk about spreading a bit of joy during this season of uncertainty!
— Looking for a cheeky little distraction? Designer Kathryn Ireland is taking it to Instagram Live for Cocktails with Kathryn, where she and a special guest spend 15 minutes talking about everything but design. Confirmed guests include David Phoenix, Timothy Corrigan, Suzanne Kasler, and Michael Bruno. Be sure to follow @kathrynmireland so you don’t miss a moment!
— Spending 100% of your time at home might have brought you to the realization that you need proper window coverings. Everhem is currently offering 30% off the retail price of all orders with the discount code FIGHTCOVID19. Plus, a portion of all proceeds will be donated to The Los Angeles Regional Foodbank, The L.A. Emergency COVID-19 Crisis Fund, and Gates Philanthropy Partners. Founder Haley Weidenbaum says, “While we’re just one small business, we believe adopting this approach will both help mitigate the devastation on the ground today and shorten the length of the pandemic in the future.”
— Need a mask? Check out MINNA! “We had just begun planning a no-waste project with our artisan partners in Mitla, Oaxaca Mexico to use production waste — pieces that were made too small or had slight design errors,” explains Sara Berks, founder and creative director of MINNA. “We decided to use this waste to create masks!” For every mask purchased, one will be donated to a New York shelter for women with mental health disorders experiencing homelessness.
— Montage Hotels & Resorts has two great initiatives in place right now, to help both their employees and their customers. The Hearts of Montage Associate Relief Fund allows consumers to buy gift cards for future travel that will support Montage Hotels & Resorts and Pendry Hotels & Resorts associates and their families. Then there is the #MontageAtHome series, which has virtual activities that range from coloring books and lei making for children to tips, book recommendations, and recipes from celebrity Friends of Montage. These days, travel is wonderful a state of mind!
— Earth Day is next week! Outer, a direct-to-consumer brand creating beautiful, durable and sustainable products, will be hosting an Instagram Live (@liveouter). Terry Lin (Outer’s Co-Founder and Chief Design Officer) will join Anna Cummins (Co-Deputy Director of non-profit 5 Gyres) to inspire their collective audiences and find the silver lining in today’s stay-at-home world. Be sure to tune in!
— Now is the time to sign up for Revival Rugs’ mailing list! They’ll be adding over 500 gorgeous vintage Turkish rugs to their site this month, and subscribers snag early access.
— Sweet Flower has some exciting initiatives coming up for 4/20! They’ve partnered with the stylish ladies of STRIIIKE to curate an exclusive cannabis menu. Any, they’ll be offering 15% off of all in-store and delivery purchases. Additionally, for the first 25 delivery orders that are placed on 4/20, customers will receive a complimentary tote with an assortment of amazing cannabis offerings from brands including CANN, Kiva, Dosist, Papa & Barkley, and more.
— Finally, find your moment of zen this weekend with some white sage or palo santo. (They’ve been used in rituals of purification for thousands of years.) Place Bloomist’s White Sage or Palo Santo sticks in a small dish when smoldering and totally relax. (We love their handmade ceramic dishes by DBO Home!)
