Maria Brito is an interior designer, decorator, and art consultant based in the heart of New York City. With a penchant for bright colors and a passion for art, she creates spaces that convey energy and emotion. And with a stellar portfolio, she’s garnered the attention of CEOs, celebrities, and fashion executives… not to mention nods from sites like Forbes.com & GOOP. We took five minutes with Maria and though we didn’t think it was possible, we love her even more:

MY LIGHT BULB MOMENT:
When I saw how many people were missing out on living with good contemporary art, the art of our times that represents us as a society and as individuals. I knew there was an opportunity to combine my passions and abilities as a decorator and art collector and become an advisor.  That’s when I decided to quit my job as a lawyer and start my company, Lifestyling.

I CAN’T START MY DAY UNTIL:
I’ve had a cup of black coffee and an intense workout at Tracy Anderson Method Studio.

SUCCESS IS:
Knowing that you’ve accomplished something major on your own and being able to share those triumphs with the people you love.

YOU’LL NEVER SEE ME WITHOUT:
My watch.  Right now it’s a Rolex Oyster Perpetual with platinum and pink gold.  My husband says that he has never seen me without a watch on my wrist (which is not 100% true, but almost).

MY DREAM COLLABORATION:
If we would have lived during the same time, it would have been a very colorful collaboration with Frida Kahlo.

THE ONLY PLACE BETTER THAN NYC:
No, sorry, there isn’t!

WHEN I FEEL UNINSPIRED:
I go for a walk anywhere in downtown Manhattan.

ADVICE I WISH I HAD 5 YEARS AGO:
Don’t sweat the small stuff; most problems big and small get solved.

IN 5 YEARS FIND ME:
Doing amazing art and design projects all over the world.

ABOVE ALL ELSE:
I believe in God and in myself.
