Bridgid Coulter is the creative force behind Bridgid Coulter Design. Offering a brick & mortar store in Santa Monica, interior design services, AND a line of signature textiles- she’s a total triple threat. She creates warm, livable homes that are filled with beauty, personality, and the highest quality materials. Her aesthetic perfectly blends modern sensibility with global individuality. Her textile line is eco-conscious- all fabrics are screen printed locally (in LA) and on natural linen with water-based dyes. More than her admirable approach to gorgeous design, we love her personality. With her definition of success, her never-ending desire to learn, and her sly sense of humor, we’re card-carrying members of the Bridgid fan club. After taking 5 Minutes With her, we think you’ll be too:
MY LIGHTBULB MOMENT:
I draped several lines of Edison bulb string lights all over my yard for a birthday party and fell in love with the perpetual celebration look, so I never took them down and now they make me smile nightly. I find they serve as a metaphor for my particular type of hopeful epiphany; as one’s life direction can be a cascading series of moments, where you follow the stream of shining lights.
I CAN’T START MY DAY UNTIL:
I move my body, which currently seems to come in any form of stretch, walk, dance or a torturous, but addictive form of pilates that I take at the Studio MDR. But sometimes it’s just enough to roll out of bed.
Being surrounded by people that you truly love and it is reciprocated.
YOU’LL NEVER SEE ME WITHOUT:
Hmmm… a question about something?
MY DREAM COLLABORATION:
Well, I design textiles, act whenever I can and love humming a tune. So, if I could sculpt a set with Kara Walker while filming the lead in a movie with Steve McQueen and writing the lyrics to my duet with Bruno Mars for the soundtrack. Kinda over-ambitious, huh?
THE ONLY PLACE BETTER THAN SANTA MONICA:
I really like it here. But my favorite retreat is Kona, Hawaii. I love being in the warm ocean and am fascinated by how ancient lava meets the sandy beach.
WHEN I FEEL UNINSPIRED:
I cocoon, get quiet and pause for a spell; then try to get out to nature to watch the wind blow through the trees.
ADVICE I WISH I HAD 5 YEARS AGO:
There is no next time, this is the living dream. Go for it all, bravely and with full heart in this exact moment. Then do all of this in balance with rest.
IN 5 YEARS FIND ME:
Lounging with my guy and our kids in a hammock… or rather trying to convince our teenagers that it’s not boring to hang out with parents.
ABOVE ALL ELSE:
Listen. Slow down. Be kind.
