After years of living in Montreal and New York, designer Hana Getachew made a trip back to Ethiopia where she was born and raised until the age of three. She visited her old neighborhood, Bole, located outside the country’s capital Addis Ababa, and immediately felt a connection to her roots. After having earned a degree in interior design at Cornell University and working several years as Associate Principal at Studios Architecture in New York City, she decided to launch her own brand, Bolé Road Textiles, that pays homage to Ethiopian craftsmanship.
Building upon traditional Ethiopian weaving techniques, her designs offer a modern reinterpretation, with graphic patterns and stylish color combinations. Today, Bolé Road Textiles offers a range of home goods from throw pillows, shower curtains, and table linens both in a more neutral palette as well as sophisticated colorful pairings. With the combination of her keen eye for creating great design and the years of expertise offered by the Ethiopian weavers that Hana works with, each Bolé piece is a masterpiece to bring joy to your home.
