Our Style Editor Victoria de la Camara shares her time at Las Vegas Market. She and our Managing Editor, Kelli Lamb attended from the 31st July to the 3rd of August. Follow her story about what it’s like to be an editor at Las Vegas Market.

Already a week ago, we headed out to Las Vegas Market, the liveliest of the trade shows, located in none other than Sin City. It’s a strange thing to have a professional trip to a city that is full of vacationers, bachelorette-party-goers and so on. But frankly, we love it because as a West Coast based magazine we love that this market allows you to feel the pulse of what’s happening on this side of the country design-wise.

Las Vegas Market is a more intimate and easy-going furniture fair, where you can find many of your go-to contemporary brands. We enjoyed giving our tour of our favorite showrooms, including Bliss Studio, Cisco Home (an LA furniture company), Palecek and Selamat. It was a great way to not only get intimate with a few of our readers, who followed us around to see what pieces we were gravitating towards, but also to prepare for our” Ahead of the Curve” panel for the next day. After a few strong cocktails and a delicious barbecue chicken sandwich (if there’s one thing that is a constant at any market it is that these are necessary ingredients to help complete a long day on your feet), we got ready for our presentation.

We were honored to be joined by Aileen Kwun of Dwell Magazine, Catherine Dash of Sunset Magazine and Brielle Ferreira of Luxe Interiors + Design to discuss the biggest trends for 2016. Here our editor minds came into contact to talk about what we were all seeing as important influences in design. From a new makers movement, to wireframe, and sophisticated humor, there were a lot of commonalities in what we were seeing. We were so glad so many were able to join us for the panel, and hope that many of you that those of you that weren’t will join us in Vegas next time – it’s a great place to discuss contemporary design!
