Last year we shared the seven boutiques we were shopping for holiday gifts. Included in the collection was Join Shop, a Seattle store from a collective of curated designer-makers. So when Sallyann Corn and Joe Kent, the duo behind Seattle-based design studio fruitsuper and the original Join Shop announced they had partnered with Foundry Vineyards to open their second retail location, this time in Walla Walla, WA we had to learn more.
Of deciding to locate their second shop within a winery, Sallyann says, “Our like-minded businesses are the perfect pairing. Like rosé on a summer day, we’ve added design to this already beautiful destination.” In addition to some of the Join Shop Seattle’s favorites, Join Shop Foundry also offers gourmet foods, multiple jewelry collections, stationery, and wine-centered gifts.

What makes JOIN unique?
Join Shop Foundry (Walla Walla) and Join Shop (Seattle) are physical manifestations of a design collective now celebrating its tenth year. Join is dedicated to a community of independent makers, designers and artists, and this Shop is a platform for telling the stories behind the beautiful wares this community creates.
JOIN Shop Manifesto is: We are a community of designers, makers, and artists. We believe in creating objects with stories, getting our hands dirty, and taking pride in what we make. JOIN Shop proudly supports small studios that make their wares in the USA.
We are united by our like-minded values, dedication to craft, quality, honesty in materiality, and American-made wares. We are friends, colleagues, mentors, and supporters of each other.
What inspired you to open a second location and how did the partnership with Foundry Vineyards occur?
The second location grew out of a long relationship (and friendship) with the amazing team at Foundry Vineyards. Having grown up in Eastern Washington (myself in Walla Walla), Joe and I return for visits several times a year. This has always been one of our favorite locations to spend time. Between the tasting room, gallery, and sculpture garden, it’s the perfect modern-meets-industrial interior, with the added bonus of delicious wine! Their team approached us to add one more layer to their existing offering of Art + Wine, by adding a curated addition of + Design. Obviously, we jumped at the chance! The Foundry has a longstanding reputation of supporting the arts community, so the partnership felt incredibly natural.
What are you most excited about for in your new space?
With this new location we were able to tweak and modify everything we learned about our first Seattle shop. We love the natural light, the brightness and lightness of the display, the mix of new and industrial elements, and of course the proximity to amazing art. We also love the location and that it’s a destination.
