We’re not into matchy-matchy, and from the response to Lillana Vazquez’s home in the recent issue of Rue Magazine, you aren’t either. Founder of TheLVGuide.com and The TODAY Show contributor, Lilliana has honed her sense of style for both fashion and interiors. So designing a home wasn’t an issue, even though she and her husband have very different preferences. In fact, her balancing of different design elements is really what brings the home alive. We picked three rooms from the home tour and showed how blending styles makes each one work.

1. Lilliana’s self-proclaimed style is very glam and girly. She’s always willing to embrace a strong statement piece, like the gorgeous mirrored bar cabinet from Jonathan Adler, and welcomes metallics and soft colors that create a high-drama and high-style space.

2. Her home also brings in masculine midcentury pieces for her husband who more into a minimalist look. A refinished dresser from Rhino Restoration in the entryway, a streamlined gray couch in the living room, and (mismatched) bedside tables. These pieces add serious design history cred and serve as grounding pieces for the space. Notice how many of the midcentury pieces are the largest pieces in the room, but they don’t shout for attention?

3. Last, Lilliana brings in plenty of boho fun. It may seem that glam and midcentury wouldn’t work together, but by bringing in a third style, she creates an eclectic look. Bright artwork in a variety of styles and agate objets bring in color. In the dining room, pink chairs and a red surfboard- colors considered to “clash”- actually play nicely together.

Not only does Lilliana bring together different styles to create a dynamic space, she also is a deal-hunter! See her tips for finding the perfect piece affordably in Rue Magazine here. And see our picks for how to make the space your own in the slideshow.
