For design lovers, a great Thanksgiving tablescape is almost as important as the food. (Don’t worry, we said almost.) If you’re hosting this year, you might want to rethink reaching for your boring ol’ “everyday dishes” and use the impending holiday as an excuse to upgrade. We pored through the huge selection at Crate & Barrel and came up with six essentials for a neutral, natural tablescape that’s as beautiful as it is functional.
First, we believe in placecards – even for small gatherings! It makes the event feel more special and intimate than a normal dinner. Next, we love the idea of using square doilies instead of chargers or placemats. They add a hint of texture and look beautiful on natural wood dining tables. For dishes, this is the holiday to leave your comfort zone and experiment with patterns! The Portofino Collection is made of natural terra cotta and has a beautiful grey and white glazed design. For the rest of the table, we (again) recommend trying new materials. A copper pitcher, marble paddle server, and beechwood salt & pepper grinders are functional while adding major style and texture to the table.
Now that the decor is handled… we suggest brushing up on our do’s and don’ts of hosting a dinner party. Paired with a great menu, this will be a Thanksgiving that your guests won’t soon forget!
