The term “modern” gets thrown around pretty loosely. We normally use it for things that have clean lines, a paired down approach, and that look like they’ve been designed in the past couple of decades. But did you know that many of those items that we think are “modern” were actually designed over 50 years ago?

It’s true. Many of our design favorites were conceived in the 1930s, 40s and 50s. But that’s the mark of great design – something that feels fresh even fifty years after it has been made. That’s why many of the new furniture and lighting pieces of the past few years have borrowed a lot of the fundamental characteristics of these modern classics. The comparison is kind of uncanny.
