As interior design fans ourselves, we know what it’s like to spend a whole weekend ogling the photos of pretty spaces, feeling like everyone has a magazine ready home but you. Well, as we know, that’s probably not true… but what isn’t so clear is that many of those spaces that look like they cost six figures are probably only four. So how can it be done? By knowing how to work decorating tips to your favor while also having the insider knowledge of where you can buy quality, luxe products for less. Z Gallerie, for example, is a great design resource that editors know and rely upon for great stylish pieces. Which is why we took on a challenge...
We partnered with Z Gallerie, and founder of Carrie Bradshaw Lied, Kathleen Barnes, to see if they could replicate two of our most popular spaces for around $5000. We think the result is uncanny. Kathleen wanted an elegant beach vibe but also didn’t have a big budget to spend on transforming her space. With some of the pieces she already had plus some stand out collections from Z Gallerie she pulled off a space that feels high-end and stylized.
We asked her take on the project:
How would you describe the style of this space?
Coastal and fresh.
What was the main piece around which the design is based?
I think the sofa is so fabulous and makes such a statement! It combines luxe and comfort, which is what my decor style is all about.
How did you personalize the space?
I have some bookshelves with personal things that really represent my husband and myself. It holds some of our favorite books, records and photos.
What are the stand out items that make this space unique?
Of course I really love the gorgeous sofa that sets the room, but Z Gallerie also offers some really cool and interesting accessories. The Pascual End Table, Scoppio Sphere and the Mia box are some of my favorites. And who doesn’t love this oversized Mongolian fur pillows? They’re fabulous!
For our readers that want to replicate this look what are some tricks they can use?
My tip would be to keep your furniture neutral – beige, tan, oatmeal and white – and accessorize with pops of blue.
How is Z Gallerie a great resource for creating a luxe look for less?
I think Z Gallerie offers some amazing, affordable pieces that really bring the glam in home decor. If you’ve ever walked into one of their stores, it immediately feels luxe with layered textures and sparkly accessories. I also really love the versatility in their pieces.
How do you mix high and low to achieve great style?
Invest in your furniture because comfort is everything. I think you can shop your local antique stores and flea markets for unique accessories, and never underestimate the power of a fresh paint job!
How does fashion influence your choices in design?
I tend to lean toward solids when dressing myself, and I think I decorate the same way. It allows me to mix and match when I get bored, and keeps things clean and fresh. I also have been heavily influenced by the West Coast’s beachy vibe, and that’s reflected in both my closet and home decor!
We love Kathleen’s layered space that for the fraction of the price, shows off its high-end aesthetic. If luxe for less really resonates with you (we know it does for us!), head over to Z Gallerie’s site to enter to win a $500 gift card!
