As lovers of interiors, we tend to judge pretty much any book by its cover. So when it comes to hair salons, we appreciate an atmosphere as stylish as the look we want to end up.

That’s why we love hendrix Salon in Corte Madera, designed by Kimberly Rider. Kimberly is the author of two books on eco-living as well as a featured designer on two HGTV programs offering her expertise on home interiors and landscape design. She describes this space as “rock n roll glam. It is a clean, bright space with touches of natural textures, hits of brass and colorful vintage elements.” That appropriate for a salon whose owner also performs as a singer at local venues in Marin. Kimberly combined vintage brass chairs with vintage-feeling fabric from Novus. Artist Alexandra Ridge created floor and wall stencils (and those rhinestones by the faucets, yes please!) The overall experience is relaxed cool and a lot of fun.

See the whole space in the slideshow. Personally, we can’t wait for our turn in those blue leather salon chairs!
