When we first saw Bianca Sotelo’s office space, we knew it was going to be one of our favorites for… basically ever. She graciously opened her doors to the dark & moody space in our anniversary issue, #RueTurns4, but we wanted to shine the spotlight on a few details that may have been overlooked. The custom drawer pulls on the bar, that amazing Regina Andrew alabaster lamp, her charismatic library, and (who could forget) her growing art collection? Every detail is flawless.

In the original article, we learned all about her design process… but we were curious about her actual work day. In a rapid-fire series of questions, we found out her office essentials, the songs she has on repeat, and (perhaps most intriguing) her go-to happy hour order:

FIRST THING YOU DO WHEN YOU WAKE UP?
“Oh, we’re getting intimate, are we? So soon? Well, I immediately turn on some music — which means something of the Sam Smith sort — and then I put on a pot of water to boil for coffee. Very strong coffee.”

ITEM(S) IN YOUR OFFICE YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT:
“I can’t live without a good notebook and pen – I still write everything down on pad and paper. Muji’s a good spot for those. International magazines – they’re an expensive habit, and sure they just pile up to never be read again, but I’m addicted to Vogue Living Australia, Apartamento and Vogue Paris. This is more for on the go, but I could NEVER live without my Clare V. woven leather laptop case. Never.”

WORKDAY PLAYLIST?
“Sam Smith. Flume. Ed Sheeran. Common. JT. Lorde. Disclosure. Drake. The Roots. Really into Hippie Sabotage and Mr. Probz right now too.”

FAVORITE APP?
“VSCO + Instagram. Duh. Also, I embarrassingly still use Pandora on a daily basis.”

FAVORITE PROJECT YOU’VE RECENTLY COMPLETED?
“A post for Apartment 34 called Coffee & Calligraphy. I art directed and styled the whole thing, brought in two of my favorite locals on as collaborators, Bright Room Studio for the calligraphy and Wreckingball Roasters for the coffee. Aubrie Pick shot it and it’s probably one of the prettiest shoots we’ve had this year. Proof that if you surround yourself talent, things can only turn out amazing.”

3 WEBSITES THAT FUEL YOUR DISTRACTION EACH DAY?
Man Repeller. YouTube. Does Pinterest count?”

WHO DO YOU KNOW IN “URL” THAT YOU’D LIKE TO MEET IRL?
“Gosh, there are so many. These days I have more URL friends than IRL, but Nicole Franzen, Rebecca Atwood and Rita Mehta. I’m obsessed with each of their work.”

NUMBER 1 TIP FOR WORKING FROM HOME?
“Get out of the house! I could easily stay in my home all week without leaving, but I also would have to check myself into the crazy house. So, I try to workout every evening (with a friend- it makes such a difference!) and do a work session at a cafe twice a week, one solo, one with friends.”

WHERE DO YOU GO WHEN YOU’RE UNINSPIRED?
“Running at the beach. It’s not even a nice beach either, so I can’t even imagine what Malibu would do to me. I just love the calm and salty air.”

AND YOUR HAPPY HOUR INDULGENCE OF CHOICE?
Anything with gin. And if it has egg whites on top? Then we’re really partying.
