Now that the weather has cooled down, it’s time to (temporarily) give up those juicy beach reads. Yep, fall is the season of the coffee table book. A cozy throw, a glass of wine, and a great design book is the perfect way to unwind after a long day.
This season, one of our favorite designers released her first book and it’s an experience you’ll enjoy cover to cover. Estee Stanley is a premiere celebrity designer in Los Angeles (and beyond), designing homes and restaurants for who’s-who of Hollywood. Estee’s interior design style is heavily influenced by her background in fashion — she got her start as a fashion stylist, working with clients like Jessica Biel, Patrick Dempsey, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson, and Penelope Cruz. As In Comfort and Style details, it was when she purchased her first home in Hancock Park that her love of interiors blossomed. The book shares present-day images of her home (she still lives there!) alongside funny anecdotes of those first years tackling the renovation.
Estee has a unique ability to actually blend casual and elegant elements — she knows how to create a high-end space yet still make it a comfortable place to call home. Plus, she’s hilarious. You’ll enjoy her witty writing and be delighted by all the cheeky ways she adds humor to her designs. (There’s a cabinet full of souvenirs from across the globe that she’s labeled “Things I Stole.”) Needless to say, In Comfort and Style a great addition to any design lover’s collection.
