Located at the easternmost point of Provincetown on Cape Cod, AWOL is the newest hotel on our travel bucket list. The property, formerly Inn at the Moors, was opened by Lark Hotels and has 30 well-appointed guest rooms and suites, all of which overlook the West End’s beautiful tidal waterways.
Butcher & Blood, a Massachusetts-based design firm, took on the property’s redesign. It’s all quite bohemian and comfortable, encouraging guests to enjoy the beauty of the location — a concept boosted by each room’s access to outdoor space. On the first floor, guest rooms offer outdoor hammocks, while the second floor balconies have day beds with a nice view of the waterfront. Inside, guests can enjoy the ultra-soft bedding and platform beds, complemented by straw light fixtures and plenty of layered, neutral textures.
For guests who crave a little more than pool time, the hotel offers bikes to explore, and is close to Provincetown staples — Jimmy’s Hideaway, The Canteen, and the Crown & Anchor are all a short walk. The property is seasonal, so you have through October to check it out! It will reopen in May 2019. And it’s worth noting, the hotel’s ethos will make it worth the trip. “AWOL is unlike any other Lark Hotels property,” said CEO, Rob Blood. “Drawing from P-town’s rich history built by the LGBTQ community, we aim to bring people together at AWOL around a common spirit, and to leave all pretense and prescription behind. As the name implies, it is truly a space for escape – whether that’s to or from the unknown.” So, we’ll see you on the Cape?
