“One of the things that made this remodel extra exciting was that our clients had a 3 week window after closing on the home before they had to be out of their prior residence,” Jen and Stacy of Rosewood Interiors recall. “Four-time Olympic swimmer Jason Lezak and wife Danielle reached out to us while they were in escrow to purchase the 5 bedroom, 4500 square foot home located in the gated community of Coto de Caza in Orange County, California. The Lezaks fell in love with the location of the property, but knew it needed significant updating.”

Short timeline or not, this project was certainly not small. “When we first visited the property, we walked in to a 1990’s dream home,” the duo laughs. “The home was built in 1991 and had never been updated. It had loads of busy wallpaper and dark oak cabinetry. Heavy railings and dark greens dominated the space. They had 25 foot ceilings with incredibly heavy floor to ceiling drapes that made the space feel cluttered and outdated.”

Jen and Stacy had to gut and reconfigure the kitchen, powder room, and laundry room. They replaced the foyer banister, as well as replaced the flooring, molding, and paint throughout. And did we mention? The family needed new furnishings in the living room, family room, playroom, and their daughter’s bedroom. The designers explain, “They challenged us to complete the structural elements of the remodel during that extremely brief window. At first, we didn’t think that would be possible. However, the stars aligned with our amazing contractor, and with a lot of extra effort, we were able to accomplish that objective. To say it was a whirlwind of activity during that 3 week period would be an incredible understatement!”

For this design team, who launched their business in 2016, the project highlighted their synergy and ability to work well together — even under pressure and quick deadlines. They explain more about the home’s design in the slideshow. Take a tour!
