Tampa based designer, Michelle Wiebe of Studio M is a veteran when it comes to high style, social media savvy, and staying at the pulse of the interiors industry. Known for her unparalleled knack for luxury design and running a design firm with purpose and intention, we’ve long been admirers of hers at Rue. In the fourth installment of our High Point Market “Style Spotters” interview series, we sat down with Michelle to find out what fuels her fire, snag her business advice, and get inspired:

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT HIGH POINT MARKET IS:
Its gentle southern hospitality. Only in the South will you find showrooms that are always so lavish with great lunches, parties, etc. And the people of the High Point area are extremely kind and gracious. The October market is my favorite, as it is beautiful with the leaves changing color.

MY MUST-SEE SHOWROOMS AT MARKET ARE:
Over the past several markets, my favorite showrooms have been Bernhardt, Century, and Vanguard. Each of these companies seems to be setting the latest trends, while showcasing their products in gorgeous settings.

AS A STYLE SPOTTER, I’M MOST LIKELY TO “SPOT”:
An amazing new piece from Emporium Home. I always love to go see what new creations have come from the mind of Ashely Childers!

WHAT SETS HIGH POINT MARKET APART FROM OTHER TRADE SHOWS IS:
Its long history being located in North Carolina, where most American furniture is produced. It has storied “roots”, so to speak.

AS A DESIGNER, WHAT I ADMIRE MOST IN A ROOM IS:
A certain style or object that shows the personality of its owner. Perhaps it’s an heirloom area rug, or an original piece of artwork purchased while traveling overseas, or maybe even it’s the colors (whimsical and vibrant…or soft and serene.)  I always like to “see” the owner in a room.

MY LIGHT BULB MOMENT:
I’ve had a few lately. One quote that I love (and I don’t know the source of) is this: “If you don’t build your dream, someone will hire you to help build theirs.” It’s very applicable in the design business, especially since I specialize in luxury new construction. I have become much more intentional about building our business dream, setting personal “big hairy audacious goals,” and even getting serious about our next new home (we hope to buy or build within the year)!

I CAN’T START MY DAY UNTIL:
I dive into prayer and snuggle with our Australian labradoodle, Tagg.

SUCCESS IS:
Seeing your God given dreams become reality while glorifying Him!

YOU’LL NEVER SEE ME WITHOUT:
Chocolate.  Chocolate.  Chocolate.

MY DREAM COLLABORATION:
Is with one of the top book publishers. I have begun writing a different type of design book, and I hope to ultimately have at least ten books published. I’d also love to collaborate with an amazing hotel developer to design the interiors for a new boutique hotel chain.

THE ONLY PLACE BETTER THAN TAMPA IS:
New York City and London for design inspiration. For family, I love to go to the Pacific Northwest (I’m related to most of the state of Washington!) or the mountains of North Carolina.

WHEN I FEEL UNINSPIRED:
Travel always gives me a different perspective, and I always return with many creative ideas for our business, for design projects, and for living life fuller. When I’m home, I love to cardio box or walk on the beach to stimulate my creativity and to solve tough problems.

ADVICE I WISH I HAD 5 YEARS AGO:
Eliminate: define a “not to do” list. And delegate: only do the tasks that only I can do.

IN 5 YEARS FIND ME:
I’d love to be on a national book tour, promoting my second or third design book—as a New York Times best selling author.

ABOVE ALL ELSE:
Dream big + pray hard!
