Hold onto your seats. One of everyone’s favorite furniture and home decor stores is getting a makeover — but in the best way possible.

Johanna Uurasjarvi, West Elm’s new Creative Director, is bringing a fresh vision to the forefront, refining the brand’s design philosophy and its very definition of “modern”. While the brand has always been about modern style, they’re evolving along with the way we live today. Think striking silhouettes alongside luxe materials… yet somehow totally livable/comfortable/ready for real life. They’re bridging the gap between a pretty room and a room that you’ll actually want to use and enjoy. Things that are as comfortable as they are good looking, and that offer multiple uses — a perfect complement to today’s busy (multitasking!) reality.

The first showcase of this new direction is with their Spring 2017 catalog. (Though, let us preface that by explaining it’s actually more of a bound book. You’ll want to pore over every page as you would your favorite magazine, glass of wine in hand.) The catalog will be arriving in mailboxes across the country on December 27, and probably sitting proudly on coffee tables well into the New Year. (In case you’ve never received a catalog from them, sign up here.) We got our paws on a little preview, and just couldn’t wait until the 27th for you to see. Some of our favorite moments and pieces are in the slideshow.

Love what you see? The new offerings will be online December 23 and being making appearances in stores in January 2017.
