Lori Paranjape’s recent project in her hometown of Nashville was a family friendly home for a young couple that prioritized easy to clean materials and places for young children to play. The exception was the living room, an adult-focused space perfect for entertaining over cocktails shared late into the night. The space is elegant while still warm, inviting, and cozy thanks to Lori’s careful balancing of traditional shapes, glam accents and bold abstract art. You can see the whole home here and find out how to get the look in the slideshow!

First, Lori laid down a foundation of neutral pieces like a large-scale Chesterfield sofa. This pairs with the traditional detailing like the crown molding, but even in a space with less ornate details, it will create a rich base to build off of. Keeping these larger pieces neutral allows the client to change up their space as trends and personal preferences evolve.

Then texture is added through glam details like a luxurious sheepskin rug and gold accent pieces, like a pedestal table. Even though statement pieces, they also add warm and depth to the space.

Last, bold abstract art shows up- but not just on the walls. The pillows on the side chairs echo the painterly quality of the statement art above the sofa.
