Style Editor, Victoria de la Camara, has been giving an inside look into our trip to AmericasMart®. Day 1 was a whirlwind of elegant entertaining and craft cocktails. Our second day at market is all about PANTONE.
With day 1 at a close, we were excited to explore the second day at the market where PANTONE was at the heart of our activities. We began with a talk about the Colors and Trends Driving Design for 2106, where we not only found out about the great new trends we’d be seeing for the new year but also about the inspiration behind choosing Serenity and Rose Quartz as the PANTONE colors of the year. These two pastels are excellent choices for both fashion and design to evoke that sense of inner peace that is such a prevalent zeitgeist.
We then took a tour of the PANTONE design exhibition and admired the designer vignettes highlighting the different palettes for 2016. Our team had a tough time choosing which one was our favorite but the one I gravitated to the most was an artist inspired space that had a great gallery filled with different styles of paintings. Designed by Tami Ramsay and Krista Nye Schwartz of CLOTH & KIND, this vignette had gorgeous layering – from the fabrics by Caroline Cecil Textiles, to the artwork and the modern lighting, I’d definitely wouldn’t mind moving right in.
After, we made our way back to the Riedel kitchen (now our favorite place at the market for obvious reasons) to watch Top Chef all star Richard Blais work his culinary magic. We knew that he had some skills with liquid nitrogen but he also brought out other impressive tools such as a smoker to create dishes layered with flavor. The whole time I was wondering if a smoker would be allowed through customs back to Spain…
Finally, our last event for the evening was the PANTONE party. As co-hosts, we felt that it was our obligation to set an example for the rest by enjoying a pretty Serenity colored champagne cocktail (…or two) and taking a few candid photos at the step-and-repeat. Not to mention I was secretly obsessed with all of the songs the DJ was putting on, including one called “How Deep is Your Love” by Calvin Harris and Disciples, that I had in my head for a few days and could never remember the name of.
All in all it was another great day of design, food and fun activities; check out our slideshow to see pics from day 2!
